Hey Misa (@beautyinglowing), thanks for taking part! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?
No problem at all! Well, I’m a 22 year old girl from a small city in Holland. You probably have already guessed it but I love skincare and everything around it! However the reason I started my blog and Instagram page was more for my own wellbeing as when I started all this I had very severe chronic back pain. I still have it but it's not as bad. It really helps me to keep my mind off of things! Also meeting all these amazing people with the same passion as me is just so great! Having this page actually really fuels my passion for skincare so I have decided to go to school to become an aesthetician, I'm so excited for that!
I read on your blog that you're from a small city in Holland. How did you discover KBeauty?
If my memory serves me right, I’m pretty sure I found out about it through KPop around 7 years ago. Around that time I was really struggling with acne and those idols had the most perfect skin and I did some digging around and here we are!
What was it that got you obsessed with Kbeauty?
There are so many reasons! First of all, they’re not as expensive as Western brands. As a student 7 years ago and even now that really made me happy. And most importantly it worked! After introducing KBeauty products, my skin has improved so much and that’s one of the biggest reason I’m obsessed!
You talked about how you had tried all kinds of Western brands but it didn't seem to work for your acne-prone skin. In your opinion, how do you think KBeauty and Western skincare are different?
Back in the day there definitely was a bigger difference between the two. Back then, Western skincare often was about harshly treating your skin, especially when you have acne which is caused by a dry, irritated and damaged skin barrier.
With Korean skincare I liked the fact that it isn't necessary about treating but preventing, and when you do need to treat they don’t use products that absolutely dry out your skin, rather they use plenty of hydration layers, calming & soothing products and gentle treatments. Now, the Western brands are definitely catching up and I actually also enjoy some Western products in my routine!
What’s your everyday skincare morning routine like?
My morning routine is actually a lot quicker as often I don’t really feel like going through the whole thing, especially when I’m in a rush but when I do have the time I do the following routine. Also, I don't always use all these products together, for example sometimes I skip the vitamin C, it really depends on what my skin needs and how much time I have.
What's your everyday makeup routine like?
I don’t actually wear makeup all that often but when I do I use the following:
The Seam Cover Perfection Tip Concealer in 0.5
The Airspun Loose Face Powder
The PixiGlow Cake in PinkChampagne Glow and the Colorpop Super Shock Ckeek in Drop Of A Hat
The Etude House Drawing Eyebrow
Any eyeliner and mascara I have at hand
And last, a lip balm that has also color to it.
My night skincare routine is really the time I take for myself to rewind so it definitely can be extensive. Also, I don't always use all these products together, for example sometimes I skip the moisturizer or facial oil, it really depends on what my skin needs.
What's your night time skincare routine?
If you were to recommend 5 Kbeauty products for a friend who's never tried KBeauty before, what 5 products would they be?
That’s a great question! I would recommend:
○ The Purito Centella Green Level Calming Toner
○ Krave Beauty Kale-lalu-yAHA
○ Florishe Camilla Full Blossom Serum
○ Neogen Duo Vita Cream and the Dr.Jart Ceramidin Serum
Is there any Kbeauty product (skincare or makeup) that is currently on your wish list?
Honestly with the amount of products I’m testing, I don't really have a big wishlist but here are some products I have been eyeing!
○ the Mugwort products from I'm From
○ the Herbivore facial oils
○ Youth to the People Dream Mask
○ and anything Farmacy
What is your most memorable and loved KBeauty product? Any story behind it that you'd like to share?
I think that would be the Purito Centella toner. Not much of a story behind it but it’s my all time favorite toner! This calms, soothes and hydrates my skin so amazingly!
